Do I need a debt program for getting ready for a home?
Filed under Personal FinanceMay 16CWeb44 asked:
We have no kids and no dependents. We are looking into getting a mortgage in 2 years.
What do they look for when getting a mortgage? We have one credit card at $14,000, 2% – $250/mo.
We have a car loan added with a consolidation loan to it for $30,000 – 6% – $620/mo – 5 years
total debt : $44,000.
any ideas on how to pay this down quicker?

Lots of CHEAP online discounts
If you aren’t having troubles meeting the payments, don’t go to any debt program now. The legitimate ones will only work with people who are behind in their bills, when the lenders will work with them to get at least partial payment instead of none.
To pay them down quicker, pay more than minimum payments whenever you can, and don’t charge any more to your credit card. Six months to a year before you are ready to get your mortgage, don’t apply for any new credit. If you must buy something on credit, do it before that time frame. Make sure all your payments are on time. Even one missed payment can mean an extra hundred a month on your mortgage because of a higher interest rate.
